To review common pharmacy calculations used in community pharmacy.
In the community pharmacy, compounded prescriptions allow patients to receive medications that meet specific needs. To prepare these prescriptions, accurate calculations are required. This program will review common compounding calculations encountered in community pharmacy to allow participants to review the skills they need to ensure quality patient care.
- Describe reasons that patients may need compounded prescriptions.
- List common formulas used in prescription compounding in the community pharmacy.
- Review common conversion factors used in compounding.
- Perform basic compounding calculations given a patient case.
To obtain credit:
To complete the program and receive CPE credit, view all lesson content and complete the learning assessment by submitting answers online. A minimum test score of 70% is needed to obtain credit. After successfully completing the learning assessment, participants must complete a program evaluation and claim the available CPE credit. Participants also must verify personal information required by CPE monitor and/or CE Broker (for Florida license holders) prior to submitting CPE credit claims. Official statements of credit are available only through CPE Monitor located at NABP.net.
