Chronic wound management is a challenge facing many patients and caregivers who are in need of education and supplies for proper management. This program will provide an overview of principles of wound management based on wound assessment, a description of advanced wound-care product categories and guidance for proper application of available supplies.

Learning objectives:
  1. Describe six decision steps in developing a wound management plan.
  2. Describe characteristics and functions of advanced wound care dressings, including silicone foam, hydrocolloid, hydrofibers, hydrogels and transparent films.
  3. Describe application guidelines for each of the above categories.
  4. Describe appropriate product combinations from the above categories.
  5. List four signs and symptoms of wound infection.

To obtain credit:

Attendees must participate in the entire program by viewing the presentation on a smartphone, tablet or desktop or laptop computer, listening to the presenters with audio from the device or a linked telephone connection, responding to polling questions and submitting questions within the GotoWebinar platform. Following the presentation, attendees must return to the lesson within Drug Store News to attest to active participation and to select a participation code that will be displayed by the moderator during the on-screen presentation. An evaluation of the program is also required.
